...It gives you something to do, but doesn't get you anywhere.
People who continually worry about every detail of their lives are like a patient in a medical hospital who stool with her ear pressed against the wall.
"What are you doing?" asked an attendent.
"Shhhh," the woman whispered, beckoning the attendant to join her at the wall.
The attendant pressed her ear to the wall and stood there for several moments listening. "I can't hear anything," she said.
"I know," the patient replied with a furrowed brow. "It's been like that all day!"
Some worry about what might be said. Others worry about what hasn't been said. Some worry what might happen. Others worry about what hasn't happened that should have happened by now. Some worry about their future, while others fret over the consequences of their past.
Worry produces nothing. In fact, worry is counterproductive. It ties up your mental resources and depletes your physical energy. It cuts you off from spiritual refreshment and hinders creativity.
We were created to live prosperous lives in our mind, our body, and our spirit. Like a flower we were meant to blossom, not to wither on the vine. Put Jesus in charge of your worries today, and walk in abundant life!
Casting the whole of your care (all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all) on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and care about you watchfully.
